Weather near Piopio as boy went missing.

23 August 2.35pm

A teenage boy runaway described as “shy” has been missing since last night, after attempting to ride his bicycle from Piopio to Te Anga. He may have been trying to go to a friend’s house, a former tavern at Te Anga.

Piopio, Marokopa and Te Anga locals have been contacted and are on the lookout. The message has also been widely shared on social media.

Haven, 16, is of Filipino appearance and last seen at 9:30pm wearing dark clothing and riding a mountain bike with what looked to be camping gear. He had a Dolphin style torch with him.

Heading towards Piopio, it is likely he rode along either Troopers Road/Fullerton Rd or SH3. It is not thought he was riding via Mairoa/Pomarangai although this is a possibility.

The family moved from Auckland to Piopio, so Haven does not know the area especially well.

Police have been contacted.
